"Festive leftovers seized"

How gardaí found a quantity of poteen in a house in Killarney, Co. Kerry, during a search on January 19 last, was described by the local court yesterday.
Carol O'Riordan, of 26 Arbutus Grove, Killarney, was fined a total of £70 when she admitted possessing and concealing illegal spirits, on this occasion.
Inspector Pat Sullivan, prosecuting, said they found 31 bottles of poteen, five empty bottles and five empty drums.
Defendant had no previous convictions.
District Judge Humphrey Kelleher asked, "Was this stuff she didn't sell at Christmas?"
Solicitor Padraig O'Connell, responding for the defendant said, "No. Stuff she didn't drink at Christmas."
